Hey There!


My name is Kayci Bitton. I have been married to my best friend Jeff, for almost 17 years! I have 6 kids who I love to death and this is a blog about motherhood and parenting. 

I am currently experiencing a time of life that looks a lot different than I expected it to. I am sure you're no stranger to that happening. 

I met my husband at BYU- Idaho my freshman year, once we started dating we rarely let days go by without seeing each other. We worked together really well and loved spending time together learning and dreaming, planning, and playing. We are both fairly spontaneous and love a good adventure. We believe that God knows more than we do so we turn to Him in guidance for our lives. We were married in February of 2005, I was 18 and Jeff was 23. We were told all the time that we were babies but we were determined and committed and knew that we couldn't do life without each other any longer! 


We started our journey as parents when our oldest Grace was born in March of 2006. Our second happened to be a stillborn boy we named Glenn David, he was born October 2007. Just one year later we welcomed another beautiful girl, Claire in November 2008. Yes, you read that correctly we had 3 babies in 3 years! In May 2010 we were blessed with another beautiful girl, Lucy. Just 17 months later we welcomed our first boy to the team, Grant was born in October 2011. Boy's must have partners in crime so he was especially excited to have a little brother, Calvin in July 2013. We just knew there was one more baby that was waiting to join the team, and in December of 2015 Lillie was born. 

Now, so that you don't have to do the math, and I know you're dying to know I had 6 babies in 9 1/2 years. I was pregnant or nursing from June 2005 until December 2016, with only a handful of months between all the pregnancies and nursing months, where my body wasn't growing or supporting another life. If it sounds like I am bragging, I kind of am. It has been an honor to take part in creating and bringing life to the Earth. I believe it is the greatest gift that Heavenly Father has given to us as His daughters!

How are you feeling? I think it's safe to say that parenting involves a lot of emotion. Both negative and positive. I believe that our life experience needs to have all the emotions in order for us to be fulfilled in our lives. If you think about it if we don't know sadness could we know happiness? I don't think so! Without negative emotions, we wouldn't know we were experiencing positive emotions. This doesn't mean that we will like or want to feel all the emotions. We do need them though! One thing about being a parent that can be difficult to prepare for is dealing with negative emotions.  One thing I wasn't prepared for is feeling negative emotions twice, when my kids have hard experiences it hurts, and then it hurts again because they are hurting! It's like the saying "middle school is hard and even harder when your kids go through it."   Emotions don't have to be big scary monsters that we must avoid at all costs- even though we may wan...

Adaptability

Change is Growth I think parenting involves a lot of creative problem-solving. At our kids' elementary school they teach them this acronym for pride: P- PROBLEM SOLVER R- RESPECTFUL I- INTEGRITY D- DEDICATION E- EMPATHY They use this to teach the kids the skills they can and will develop at school. It has a little song that goes with it and it gets stuck in my head all the time because my kindergartener, Lillie, is very excited about all things school and singing (to the dismay of her siblings😂!). I love her song for many reasons, but it also helps me remember to be a problem solver in addition to reminding my kids that they can be problem solvers too! It is impossible to predict every positive or negative event that we will experience throughout our lives, right? It is curious to me that our brains want to do this when we know it's impossible. Stability

Do We Have It? Like I said before we love adventure and the last 17 years have been full of it! We have lived in San Diego California, Rexburg Idaho, Pocatello Idaho, Rigby Idaho, Provo Utah, and currently live in Houston Texas. We have loved so many things about each place we have called home! We learn new things and have had a variety of experiences because we have moved a lot. For a long time, I worried about how moving around a lot didn't allow us to feel stable. Like, some people stay in the same home or town their whole lives! They know everyone and life just seems more stable when you know what to expect day in and day out, year after year. The longest we have lived in the same home has been the last 5 years in Houston. We longest we stayed in the same place before this was 3 years in Rigby.
